HE BACK. WITH A VENGEANCE. KICKGAME DVD INTRODUCES THE KOBE 9'S!! (EXCLUSIVE DETAILED LOOK!!)

Thursday, December 5, 2013

On Wednesday evening, Nike held a special intimate gathering to unveil the Kobe 9's at the Museum for Contemporary Art here in Los Angeles. Eric Avar, who created the Foamposite line, and Kobe's designer from the beginning, was joined by Mark Parker, CEO of Nike, and the Black Mamba himself.
There were alot of questions about the strategic design that went in to the creation of Kobe's latest sneaker installment. The first basketball shoe to use FlyKnit as its main focus allows Nike to redefine the game and the lightest basketball shoe.

Using a combination of FlyKnit, Lunarlon, and FlyWire, The Kobe 9 is created with a one-piece engineered upper, using flexible strands of yarn. The lightweight, yet strong sneakers allow Kobe the flexibility and comfort needed while playing, keeping his ankle and ACL's properly supported as well.

The most important thing for the Black Mamba coming back to the game was ankle and ACL support. We don't want to see the NBA's best player re-injuring the area that sidelined him in the playoffs last season. Eric Avar took this into consideration, as well as other insights Kobe had for his 9th installment of his signature kicks.

When we first reported on the unveiling of the 9's, I mentioned the colorway was reminiscent of the "BHM" colorway, which is quite universal. Mello pointed out the Hi-Tops reminded him of the Air Mags, since they go up past the height of regular Hi-Tops.
It is the vision, materials, and innovation that completes the Kobe 9's. With Eric Avar simplifying the new design, eliminating bulk and stripping it down to the bare minimums to bring forth an underlying masterpiece was his main focus. He accomplished just that.
The Kobe 9's will release on February 8th, 2014. Worldwide. Recognize GREATNESS.  Cali "O" #TeamKickGame
