Staples Center was crazy yesterday! I got invited to check out the Clippers vs. Raptors in the V.I.P Suite (where the classic painting of Jordan's "Last Shot" was taken.) Before I went in to the game, I decided to check my people at Nike Vault, which is attached to Staples. From the outside walking over from Nokia Live, you can see how the Vault is promoting its star player with the new Kobe System.
We took a look inside, and they changed the entire layout of the store. I noticed they've been changing the theme everytime number 24 puts out a new pair of kicks.

For the Kobe VII's, the theme is taken from the Museum of Natural History. As you walk in, it has a museum-like feel to it, with sketches of the Kobe VII next to a particular animal that it was patterned after. The Shark and Cheetah theme were especially highlighted, with both animals on big display being made from Kobe VII Supreme shoe boxes! Straight bananas!

The Vault is also stepping up a nother level. You can now make an appointment to go inside the V.I.P room to customize your Kobe gear, including Destroyer Jackets and Kobe I.D.'s This is similar to BeSpoke in NYC, but on a much grander scale! By the time our KickGame DVD readers see this, we will be exactly 60 days away from one of the biggest releases in 2012. Since we covered all the bases a few days ago, we decided to take an exclusive look into the Yeezy 2.

What stands out the most, besides the "Glow" soles, is the definition of the sneaker itself. Talking to a few insiders at Nike Headquarters in Portland, I see the influence of this Yeezy came from GodZilla. The "scales" that protrude from the back panel and the lizard/reptilian skin that adorn the side back panels of the shoe remind us of the giant fire-breathing dragon. The Nike Swoosh is in "3-D", elevating out of the lizard skin.

The front top panel is made of Nike's Air material for breathability. with a suede rim to complete the top panel makes for a top-shelf sneaker. Yeezy's signature emblem is emblazened on the tongue. From what we've been told, the inner sole is a combination of memory foam, and Nike Air for maximum comfort. The price tag on these will run about $235. Well worth it! Cali "O"

MEAN GREEN: THE MANY KICKS OF RAY ALLEN!!

We forget that he has an NBA Championship. We forget he has been in the league just as long as the Great One, Kobe Bryant. With that said, Ray Allen is one of Jordan Brand's most successful players underneath the Jordan umbrella. Since coming into the league in '96, Ray Allen "quietly" put up big numbers with Milwaukee and Seattle Supersonics (now known as the Oklahoma Thunder) before making his way to the Celtics in 2007.
Known on the court (and on his kicks) as "Sugar Ray" Allen's consistency in putting up high-percentage shots got the attention of "His Airness" early, while Jordan was still in his prime. Jordan Brand released numerous PE's for Ray, including the 5's, 7's, 8's, 9's, and my favorite, the 13's. The Green/White 13 colorway was released to the public in 2011, but it was Ray's second time receiving those particular PE's. He first got a pair in 2005, When he played for the Sonics. One classic he wore is the Gold/Green/White XI's in September of 2011. He also rocked those same XI's and the Bin23 Gold Suede 9's at a pre-game in February of 2011. Truly Boss status!

I don't know if it gets bigger than this! Legendary movie director, and Brooklyn's own Spike Lee, who has been with Jordan almost 25 years, has a special edition Spi'Zike designed for President Obama and the First Lady, Michelle.
These special edition joints come in an intimate wooden box, with the Presidential Seal engraved. Jordan's number 23 is etched in underneath.

THROWBACK THURSDAY!! A LOOK BACK AT KOBE'S HYPERDUNKS!!

Initially, Kobe Bryant was not supposed to be the face of Eric Avar's offering of the HyperDunk. Kobe already had his own line of Kicks, and Avar was designing a basketball shoe with lighter synthetic material to take the weight off the feet of basketball players.
However, being the "mad scientist" that Avar is, he brought the idea to Kobe, and they ran with it!! Kobe transformed the game, and the culture, with the HyperDunk sneaker. It became part of Kobe's collection, and the "Black Mamba" had 8 colorways of the now infamous shoe.
What took the shoes to a new level was the commercial (above) where Kobe is jumping over an Aston Martin! Avar even created a "Marty McFly" HyperDunk, and Kobe was frontman for the "Back To TheFuture" release. In 2010, Nike did a special Aston Martin Pack release at Staples Center in Los Angeles to honor Kobe and the success he brought to the HyperDunk.

We don't really do LeBrons over here, but the 9's have been getting alotta play over the last few months. The "Cannons", "China", "Christmas PE's", and now the "Galaxy" All Stars.
Taking a page from Kanye's "Yeezys", Nike accomodated the Galaxy edition with Glow-in-the-dark gel soles. LeBron may also be seen in these for All-Star Weekend. For a guy who seems to flush the big stage down the toilet every time, his sneakers seem to be picking up steam.

I remember I had these joints. Summer 1996, on my way to Great Adventure. LL and Case were performing out there. Mad shorties all over. I had the freshest pair of kicks on that day.

These are definitely one of my favorite pairs of kicks of all time. The colorway, the design, and the comfort put the Jordan 11 Low I.E. in Cobalt/Zen Grey at the top of my list. Back in '96 it was different to see a pair of kicks with the gel bottoms, and vents throughout the elephant-skin for breathability. It's coming!! The official Kobe VII "Year of The Dragon" is being released right before All-Star Weekend! The colorway represents the influence of Kung-Fu, which Kobe loves. This is why we've seen it on Kobe's previous releases. Unlike the Kobe VI "China" edition, which used the Bullet Silver/Purple Swoosh to give it an element that represented the region correctly.

In the VII's, we see the yellow Dragon infused in a red background to bring out what the shoe stands for. Our sources up in Portland tell us Kobe may even WEAR these for the All-Star Weekend. It remains to be seen, but I can definitely tell you this is one for the collection! Cali "O"

Young Hov, as we still call him, arrived at his favorite college team's game, wearing the Yeezy 2's!! The game between Kentucky and Louisville might have been one for the records, but sneaker heads were paying close attention to Hov's kicks.

The first installment of the Yeezy 2's remind us of the the OG Yeezy colorway. Up close, however, you notice the intricate detail of the 2's. The reptilian-skin, which graces the entire back panel, with a 3-D Nike symbol brings the shoe to life. The front panel is made of special material to give the sneaker breathability. The glow-in-the-dark sole completes the shoe, with Kanye's signature logo rounding out the tongue.

10 YEARS LATER: NAS - "STILLMATIC" x FILA!

Can you believe 10 years have passed since Nas released the classic "Stillmatic" album! The same album that released one of Hip-Hop's most memorable battle song, "Ether." The battle between Hova and Nas will go down as one of the best in our culture.

Nas always went against the grain. With his music, and his fashion, the Queensbridge legend was ahead of his time. At one point, the self-proclaimed "Nike head" switched over to Fila, a well-known Italian sneaker that became popular among hustlers in the 80's. Nas inked a deal with the European sneaker company back in 2007, and Fila endorsed Nas' campaign during the "Nigger/Untitled" album run.

December 18th marks 10 years, and when I look at what Nas has done and the musical legacy he's given to our culture, he is "STILLmatic".

There is still about a week until the season begins so we don't know what can go down. Maybe we can acquire somebody to fill Lamar's spot. However we still do have the best player in the NBA. So regardless to what goes down we know that "The Black Mamba's" gonna be motivated to prove a point this season. There was a time in "sneakerhead history" When the only kicks that really counted came from the Jordan Collection. After 13 years, 9 different styles of sneakers with two different companies, Kobe (aka "Lord of the Rings") brings you his 10th installment with the Kobe VII Supreme. These sneakers are supreme for many reasons, but here goes a few.
The inner removable sock unveils a predatorial leopard skin-like pattern. The bottom insole is made of memory foam, which we've seen in a few of Kobe's past releases.
The outside of the sneaker has a horizontal "3-D Touch" pattern, giving the illusion of Kobe's speed while on the court. Finally, the back of the shoe, which gives the premise "eyes in back of you".

Carmelo Anthony and a few of his NBA superstar friends won't be locked out of a basketball arena for long.

The Knicks' star forward, Lebron James, Chris Paul and Dwayne Wade have put together a four-city tour of exhibition games that will end with Melo hosting a game in the Izod Center in East Rutherford on Dec. 10.

Tickets for the East Rutherford game will go on sale Wednesday. Proceeds from the tour, which will include events such as food drives, educational outreach programs and clinics in each city, will benefit the four headlining players' charitable foundations. The tour sponsor, Google Plus, will stream each game live, according to the tour organizers.

Honestly as soon as I saw the "Dorenbecher 4's" I dismissed them & kept it moving. However after watching this video I understand why he included the "Kryptonate" Green & the Superman logo. They still aren't particularly for me but the concept is clearer.

After passing on November 8th, the legendary Heavy D. was laid to rest today, after a star-studded service in Mount Vernon. Jay-Z, Russell Simmons, Chris Rock, and Pete Rock were all in attendance with countless friends and family to give Heavy D. the proper send off.
The KickGame Family extend our condolences to the Meyers family, Heav's brother Floyd, and his daughter, Xia. Nuthin' but Love.
