THROWBACK THURSDAYS: THE JORDAN 18'S!!

Thursday, August 9, 2012

It was September 25th, 2001 when Jordan announced his return to the hardwood. He joined the Washington Wizards, a team which he co-owned at the time. Two of Jordan's signature sneakers were also released while he was with the Wizards: the 17's, aka "The Briefcase" and the 18's.
The 18's were designed by long time Senior Footwear Designer Tate Kuerbis, who was inspired by race cars, race car driving shoes, and Italian dress shoes.
The 18's were also the first Air Jordan to feature the Carbon Fiber Technology. A sleek, one-piece shoe, with premium suede and an "electric Blue" sole, that gave the illusion of "walking on Air". Ironically, this was also the very last shoe Jordan wore on the court. On April 16, 2003, Jordan played his last game against Philadelphia. Everyone thought it was over for the Air Jordan dynasty. Luckily for us, the LEGACY was REBORN.  The 18's is still one of my favorites, and it came with a suede brush, driving manual, and Jordan towel. It would be nice to see EXCLUSIVE releases like that again. One of the most comfortable shoes in the Air Jordan Saga, the 18's deserve a Throwback Salute.   Cali "O" #TeamKickGame #KickGameWest
