EXCLUSIVE LOOK BACK: AIR FORCE 1 CITY PACK (B'MORE SERIES)

Thursday, April 9, 2009

Alotta dudes don't know how much of an influence B'More had on basketball, more importantly, the Air Force 1 sneaker. Designed by Bruce Kilgore in 1982, the birth of the AF1 came to life. It was discontinued in 1983, and many protested because of the high-tech aspects of the shoe.
Baltimore was a pivotal part of keeping the AF1's alive, so in 2007, Nike released a City Pack dedicated to the legacy of Baltimore basketball, and to those that fought to keep these kicks on the market.
The Cloverdale Pack, which repped the legendary park and the ballers that earned their repect, was released first in two colorways. Mr. Shoe, a local shoe retail legend who kept the AF1 alive, also received his props with the second release of limited edition joints following not far after.
The DOME, which holds respect in its own right for birthing such basketball legends like Hank Gathers, received its own AF1's in two colorways as well. Made with Nike Supreme leather, the richness that went in to the craft of the shoe cannot be overlooked.
B'More and it's basketball legacy has been cemented forever by the AF1 City Pack, and by the ballers who made it happen....Melo and Cali "O"
