Manny Pacquiao proved once again why he is the Best Boxer In The World, Pound For Pound, as the Filipino fighter dispatched his latest opponent, Miguel Cotto, in a 12-round rumble. Took place just hours ago at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Hotel & Casino, the fight started off in Cotto’s favor as he landed numerous hits on Pacquiao. But things deteriorated quite quickly as Pacquiao started to pace himself. By the 3rd round, Cotto was knocked down and bloody. However, refused to back down, Cotto stayed in for the grueling punishments. And as in fights before, Pacquiao made quick work of his opponent by “deconstructing” Cotto piece by piece. 55 seconds into the 12th round, referee Kenny Bayless called it and ended the fight.
With this Technical Knock Out (TKO), Pacquiao not only collected another belt but more importantly, a record-setting of championship titles in 7 different weight divisions. Already, the Pacquiao camp is planning for the next fight. During the post-fight press conference, Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, declared an “open invitation” to Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the next title fight.
