HIP-HOP LEGEND J. DILLA IS HONORED WITH A NEW TOY!!
Sunday, July 8, 2012
It is a great feeling to see your favorite Hip-Hop artist, who is no longer here, immortalized as a toy figure. We've seen Brooklyn King Notorious B.I.G and Tupac both given true look-alike figures in their honor. This is one of the first, and it is being done for legendary Hip-Hop producer J. Dilla.
Dilla was from Detroit, making beats and forming a group known as Slum Village. He gained local popularity, when Q-Tip from Tribe noticed his talents. Dilla went on to produce over 100 hits, including songs for Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, Common, Pete Rock, De La Soul, and Heavy D. J. Dilla was known to kill it on the mic, collaborating with Kanye, Talib Kweli, and Hi-Tek on a few projects.
J. Dilla was also a sneakerhead. This toy figure gives him his props, as he wears his classic Nike Dunks. Along with an MPC beat machine, a Detroit fitted, and a gold donut chain, this replica of Dilla does him justice. Look out for its release in the last quarter of 2012.
