It's the return of Mutumbo! Not on the hardwood, but on sneaker shelves!! One of the most prolific sneakers in our culture, the Adidas Mutumbo is a shoe that not only made a statement, but it defined a certain time. Back in 1992, the "Black Power" movement was popular on the streets, and you could find alot of heads in the hood rocking the signature Red, Black, and Green colors of the Motherland. Spike Lee was doing his thing at that time as well, and African American culture was embraced heavily.
The Mutumbos was a part of that era, and Adidas not only represented Dikembe's homeland of Zaire, Africa, but they were also representing a time period that saluted the rich fabric of our history. To see these make a comeback in the 3rd Quarter this year, means you get a chance to relive a defining moment in history. Look for the Mutumbos to make its comeback this Fall.
