THROWBACK THURSDAYS: JAY-Z x NIKE TEAM UP FOR THE "ALL BLACK EVERYTHING" COLLECTION!!

Thursday, June 13, 2013

It was the summer of 2010, and New York City played host to the World Basketball Festival. Harlem's Rucker Park, the famed Apollo Theatre, and Radio City Music Hall were just a few venues that held events in conjuction with the Festival. Many of Nike's basketball sneakers, some new and some classics, were on display. There was one particular sneaker collection that had everybody going crazy. It was Nike's collaborative culmination with "Brooklyn Don" Jay-Z, and his hand in the "All Black Everything" Air Force One Collection.
Hov had a hand in designing 5 "All Black" pairs of the AF1 sneaker, each representing a country that took part in the World Basketball festivities. Brazil, China, Puerto Rico, France, and the United States each got their own AF1 shoe, with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation, which is led by hov's mom, Ms. Gloria Carter.
Hov ended the World Basketball Festival with a special performance at Radio City Music Hall, with a live stream on FaceBook. This is one collection I would like to see come back, especially for the culture that loves Jay and his music, and the classic Air Force One sneaker as well.  Cali "O" #TeamKickGame #ThrowBackThursday #BringItBack #ABECollection
