"His Airness", Michael Jordan in 1985.
Former NBA commissioner David Stern fined Michael Jordan $5,000 dollars every time he stepped on the court with his signature sneakers. The reason? "The shoes didn't have enough white in the upper portion of the shoe." Nike paid the NBA on behalf of Jordan, which allowed him to rock this "outlawed" colorway for several games, before introducing the more David Stern-friendly OG versio that we know today.
The Jordan 1 itself is a timeless sneaker, and it happens to be one of my favorites. The Red and Black colorway, which features the "Nike Air" on the tongue, will drop on December 28th, hittin for $160. I already see alotta heads wil be bringing in the New Year the right way!
