It was a hard fought victory, but Serena Williams pulled through and won her fifth U.S. Open championship in Queens, New York. Probably the most dominant female tennis player in its history, Serena defeated many notables, seemingly with ease. Sloan Stephens, an up and coming American tennis player, who "beat" Serena in the Austrailian Open, was no match for Serena and her powerful serve when they faced each other in the semi-finals.
Serena had alot of focus, and refused to let the gusty wind become a distraction or an excuse. Each round proving to be more difficult than the next, she crushed each opponent with ace after ace. Serena could not be stopped.
What had the sneakerheads talking is Serena's Nike Lunar Air Mirabella PE, which is a nice twist to last year's PE's, which was an Air Max. What separates Serena's PE is the hearts on the lateral panel, each containing the year Serena took home the title. Next year, her PE will have one more heart added to her kicks!
At 32 years old, Serena is STILL in her prime, and just like Kobe, many of the young players who are coming after her will have to wait their turn for the throne. Serena sits on top, with America cheering her on. Congrats babygirl. You worked hard and made it happen. Cali "O" #TeamKickGame
