THROWBACK THURSDAY: HOW JAY-Z'S "BLUEPRINT" ALBUM PULLED US OUT OF THE SMOKE

Thursday, September 12, 2013

September 11, 2001 Jay-Z released his classic album, "The Blueprint". Jay had no idea what was to take place that very day. The world was in awe, especially in NYC. Amidst tragedy and shock, came triumph, as Jay's album was the rope that pulled many of us in the Hip-Hop culture out of the smoke. The Blueprint album took our minds off of the chaos, if just for an hour. With the news broadcasting the Twin Towers falling on every channel, it was a blessing to have a musical body of work that captured your attention, and took you out of your reality.
This is one reason why we say Jay-Z is the best. To embody a gift that can translate so many emotions into songs that we relate to is no small feat. Especially during that time. So every 9/11 is a way to reflect and remember the tragic events that changed our country, and also to remember how the greatest M.C. was able to lift our spirits when we needed it the most.
