Have You Read "Decoded" Yet?..

The day "Decoded" dropped I went to scoop it up like some J's, & it was sold out like some J's. I could've ordered it online however sometimes I want "instant gratification" aka I want my goods as soon as I pay for it!. Anyway I got it as a gift for Christmas & I have to say it's pretty amazing.

Most of us feel like we already understand every bar that Jay-Z has spit!. On the other hand having the man himself dissect his songs bar-for-bar & actually seeing the words on paper opens your mind to a whole nother element of hip hop. In which you truly realized the brilliance behind these lyrics great rapper put together while staying true to themselves & the culture.

Jay-Z says:

" When I first started working on this I told my editor that I wanted to do three important things. The first was to make the case that Hip Hop lyrics-not just my lyrics, but those of every great MC-are poetry if you look at them closely enough. The second was I wanted the book to tell a little bit of the story of my generation, to show the context for the choices we made at a violent & chaotic crossroads in recent history. And the third piece was that I wanted the book to show how Hip Hop created a way to take a very specific & powerful experience & turn it into a story that everyone in the world could feel & relate to".
