THROWBACK THURSDAY: AN EXCLUSIVE LOOK AT HARLEM'S LEGENDARY DAPPER DAN!!

Daniel Day, known to the Hip-Hop Community around the world as the legendary "Dapper Dan", was the designerwho brought high-end fashion to the hood. Custom-made Gucci, Louis Vuitton, MCM, and Nike clothing were specially made to custom fit anyone who could afford the price tag, starting at $1200 a pop!

Dapper Dan was raised in Harlem, and saw a void with high fashion and African American consumers. When Dapper Dan opened his legendary boutique on 125th St. in Harlem, his first clients were drug dealers that wanted the custom clothing and paid top dollar for his services. Dapper Dan noticed the rappers at the time (like LL Cool J) would stand outside and wait for the dealers to leave to find out what they had purchased and buy it for themselves. Dapper Dan said LL still owes him like 3 stacks! LOL.

Our favorite rappers and M.C.'s like Big Daddy Kane, Biz, Salt n Pepa, Eric B. and Rakim to name a few , would rush down to Dan on a regular basis to have custom jackets, hats, outfits, and even cars with Dapper Dan's custom signature. Drug kingpins like Alpo, Rich Porter, and AZ helped Dapper Dan get the word out about his premium clothing. Soon enough, stars like Mike Tyson (who knocked out Mith "Blood" Green outside Dan's boutique), Teddy Riley, and Puff Daddy would make the stop through Harlem to get a piece of the action.

Dapper Dan is now in the process of putting a book together. It should be out by the last quarter of 2012. On behalf of the KickGame DVD family, we thank Dapper Dan for his contribution to the Hip-Hop culture. - Cali "O"

SNEAKER BATTLE: KD IV "NERF" vs. LEBRON 9 "NERF!!

When we see a custom pair of kicks that deserves a nod, we go in!! Here, we have the KD IV "Nerf" kicks, which dropped last week. Not to be outdone, Mache Custom Kicks put together a nice array of colors to match on the LeBron 9's that came very close to the KD IV's.

"It's in the Air & should be landing in No time!!" Last weekend I held a "silent contest" to see who would become the 100th FOLLOWER on KICKGAMEDVD.COM!. The Winner was "RCH89"!! A official Sneaker Head coming straight out of "AKRON,OHIO!!". How Real is that? KICKGAME is NOT a Local thing..lol.I asked him to send in a picture of what Kicks he wanted his "Custom Made KICKGAMEDVD Tee" to match. The kid "RCH89" is so Official that Not only did he send in picture of the Hottest Shoe in the HOOD!(The Air CARNIVORE'S,A WEEK Before They Released) He backed up his "Credibility with his Creativity". Homeboy also sent in a picture of his "Custom Made","RCH89 Air Carnivore Fitted".WHAT??(Lil John voice!),The kid is a Problem & I'm glad the he is now Officially Down with the KickGame DVD Squad!.

"Cottonman" really did his thing with this one!.He took a purple tee hit it with the wht "Super Sized" KickGame across the chest.But the plot thickens, the tee features green studs,white stars(only bosses get stars),Black stars,+wht & purple rhinestones.I hope it's not to "Flamboyant" or "Attention" getting..lol

Now being that I was feeling how he represented one of "MY TOP 5 Favorite" Kicks.So I threw in a little something extra!!.I sent him a Sick Nike Sportswear T-Shirt that features a bunch of sneaker boxes on the front. DJ Clark Kent x Nike Air Max LeBron VII (7) – ‘112′ Edition

DJ Clark Kent has made a nice size-13 imprint in the sneaker culture with his DJCK colorway on some classic Nikes. The 112 Pack that released a two years back showcased the now trademark combination of black, neon green, elephant print, and 3M that was absolutely “bananas” (for lack of more appropriate word). Check out the DJ Clark Kent Air Max LeBron VII that features the same 112 treament; 3M outline of the Flywire panel, a neon green full-length Air Unit, elephant print on the ankle, and trail-inspired laces tie up the loose ends.
